Safety Media have recently had a company wide vote to decide on a local and a national charity to support in 2017. We are delighted to announce that this year the local charity that we will be supporting is The Osborne Trust.
Who are the Osborne Trust?
The charity provide children of parents with cancer the opportunity to access time out recreational activities whilst their parents undergo operations and treatments. From supporting 35 families from July to December last year this number has grown to 71 in the same time frame in 2016 and that number is set to continue to grow over the coming year.
By providing things like cinema vouchers, meals out or tickets for other activities the trust hopes that the children can take their mind away from the treatment that their parents are undergoing and have something fun and positive to tell their parents when they are back together. People apply for support using a simple form on the Osborne Trust website and each case is considered on an individual basis.
Safety Media will be getting involved in many different ways throughout 2017. This will include various fundraising activities, selling and promoting “Ozzy” merchandise and rattling the odd bucket or two in order to raise not only money but awareness of the great work this charity does.
The founder of the Trust, Emma Osborne said:
100% of all money raised for the Osborne Trust goes towards helping bring a smile to the face of those who need us. We are entirely run by volunteers and make sure every penny goes to places where is it needed most.
Based in Rhuddlan the trust does raise money nationwide but tries to make sure that the money raised in a particular area stays to help families within that area. That way everyone can be sure they are giving something back directly to their local community and really making a difference.
The charity was nominated internally by Stacey Gardner who said:
I am really touched by the support of my colleagues in choosing such an amazing charity. I am looking forward to getting involved and helping raise some money to make a real difference in people’s lives
We will keep you informed of our antics through the year but if you want to get involved and make a donation over the festive period you can do so by texting Chal40 £4 (or any amount you choose) to 70070*. Every penny raised will go to helping children of parents with cancer in 2017. Thank you.
